London label Waella’s Choice follow up their first two house-leaning releases by casting their eye towards London’s flourishing jazz scene. London on Key assembles 12 keys players for a new compilation, to be released on Piano Day at the end of March.
New and original work comes from Duval Timothy (who also provides the album art) and members of Yussef Days Trio, Ruby Ruston, The Comet Is Coming, Vels Trio, The Expansions, Triforce and esteemed UK trip-hop group Attica Blues. Music ranges from reflective compositions, disarming juxtapositions, jazz dance foundations, wonky synth grooves and pedal experimentations.
The compilation drops on 29th March to coincide with Piano Day, an annual worldwide event which falls on the 88th day of the year, after the number of keys on a piano. To mark the occasion, Waella’s Choice will be taking part in Worldwide FM’s Piano Day broadcast at the Erased Tape Sound Gallery.
Two tracks are available to stream exclusively here. One is from Duval Timothy, with his first new music since the critically acclaimed 2017 album Sen Am. The other is from Alberts Favourites founder, Andrew Ashong keys player and Expansions bandleader Deoke.
Pre-order the full comp from Bandcamp and receive instant downloads of both tracks. Risograph prints will also be available soon.
