With provincial folk and rock influences from across the pond the main musical fixture of the time, Quare Groove unearths the obscure and experimental underground sounds of 70’s and 80’s Ireland.
Released on Dublin’s All City records, this rare compilation showcases the disco, soul, post-punk and funk that was quietly unfolding on the scene with tracks from pioneering groove acts such as Sunshine, Those Nervous Animals and Pumphouse Gang.
As with a handful of songs in the collection recorded at Dublin’s iconic Windmill Lane studios, the progressive production of Natural Wild’s ‘Hot and Sexable’ benefits from the technological advancements that were filtering into the studio at the time. Named after the lead vocalist’s charming encounter with a woman at a carnival in Trinidad, it’s infectious funk at its best, underpinned by seductive slap bass, sunny vocals and racy guitar synths – well worth the revisit.
Quare Groove will be released on 2nd February. Pre order on Bandcamp.
