Premiere: Keita Sano – Not Too Late

For their eleventh release, Italian label What Ever Not look to prolific Japanese producer Keita Sano with Not Too Late EP. Sano has been making a name for himself as a part of the new wave of Japanese producers, featured on labels like Mister Saturday Night and 1080p.

The title track owes just as much to techno as it does ambient. A crunchy drum track rumbles through the track with all the chug of Omar-S – ‘Day’, Ambient pads float above, reminiscent of Boards of Canada, and the crackly vocal samples sprinkled throughout further evoke the sense of nostalgia found in a lot of the duo’s seminal music. Despite these similarities, ‘Not Too Late’ remains distinctly the work of Keita Sano. Not Too Late, both track and EP are a much welcome release from Sano taking unexpected turns throughout and further proving to us he can produce a good track in whatever style he pleases.

Not Too Late EP is out 16th June – buy from Juno and Red Eye.
