We Out Here Festival have announced the first wave of their line up for 2023, taking place in an exciting new location in Wimborne St Giles in Dorset, between 10-14th August
Each summer we can trust We Out Here to curate the most diverse and exciting multi-genre of artists to grace the English fields and this year does not disappoint. First up we cannot wait to finally see Cymande play live, the Brixton founded funk band that had to break up in 1975 but was championed by die hard fans including De La Soul and the Fugees and have experienced a resurgence of deserved accolades in recent years and is the subject of the brilliant documentary recently premiered and available online by our friends at Doc N Roll festival. They are joined by longtime and new legends including Sun Ra Arkestra, Black Midi, Nubya Garcia, Wu-Lu, Yazmin Lacey and Drum N Bass pioneer Goldie with a special live show.
Getting us dancing the electronic tip of the programme include’s STW favourite Japan’s Soichi Terada who will be serving up his trademark melodic house sound alongside subversive ambient/techno outfit Space Afrika and the shadowy electronics of London’s Moin. They will be joined by a host of more brilliant selectors across the days and joining live we will also get to hear gospel artist Alogte Oho accompanied by a powerful female choir – the Sounds of Joy, critically-acclaimed David Okumu performing with The Seven Generations and experimental Bristol-based band, the Tara Clerkin Trio.
In addition to the musical programme, We Out Here offers wellness, family and cultural activities, including talks, an independent record fair, wild swimming and a roller disco.
We Out Here is curated by broadcaster and DJ Gilles Peterson, in association with Worldwide FM & Brownswood Recordings.
