Al Zanders resurfaces his Lodger alias, with yet more editing genius for our lugholes on his own A-Z Records for its third release.
Low swung percussive elements and a muffled kick drum set the scene perfectly for ‘Doin’ It’, before a bass guitar, flutes and trumpets transport you straight to Studio 54 in the early 80s. By the time the sampled vocal filters in, all the elements are present, until just approaching the end, they give way to a syncopated bongo pattern and swell of string melody that rounds off the track rather perfectly. Come rain or shine, this will be one to warm the cockles this month, both on and off the dancefloor.
