Premiere: Dane – Dance To Forget

Since its first release in 2011, Dane’s Common Edit series has been steadily pushing low key, but consistently excellent, disco edits from the boss himself and a handful of West Canadian producers. Based around a party at The Common in Edmonton, where the series gets its name, the highly limited records are initially given away to attendees before being sent out for distribution.

Featuring a B side contribution from Vancouver’s Khotin, Common Edit 11 sees Dane serve up a chugging boogie flip infused with that sun-kissed balearic sound Western Canada has come to be known for. A four-to-the-floor beat on some live sounding drums combined with a simple but instantly engaging bassline drives the track forward from the start embellished only by a few open hats, some keys and a smattering of dub effects, but moving forward the elements start to accumulate with the addition of shimmering guitars, jubilant horns, and a flute riff that’ll work its way into your subconscious.

Common Edit 11 is out soon – buy from Juno or Deejay.
