Started by Ell Weston, one half of a Bristol label Banoffee Pies, Tracy Island sets out to warm the cockles after this long winter. The first EP showcases Japanese producer Mori Ra, known for his sample-heavy edits. The B1, ‘Candy Fllow’ evokes the image of a glorious sunrise over Osaka or equally breaking through the clouds on a foggy Bristol morning, ebbing and flowing in and out of a muffled trumpet melody with guitar and drums providing the rhythm section and a delightful string swell intermittently over the top. Its simplicity is its power, making it perfect for a lazy Sunday afternoon. We’re feeling like Tracy Island might be one to watch.
Trapped in the Sky EP1 is out 31st March – pre-order from Bandcamp.
