As you probably know, we are big fans of O’Flynn and the Blip Discs sound he was an integral part in forming. After making his mark on the label’s first and third releases, O’Flynn continues his endeavours on his own self-titled label with Glow Worm / Aloha Ice Jam.
This two tracker shows he’s not afraid to test new waters, again, while still keeping true to his percussive, rich production throughout. The darker, more grime-orientated A-side was aired on James Blake’s BBC1 residency earlier this year and is accompanied by a track that dives into the disco/edits category. ‘Aloha Ice Jam’ has a prominent funk-filled bassline that runs almost the entire four-and-a-half minutes, split by various samples and an extended, filter heavy breakdown.
Glow Worm / Aloha Ice Jam is out next month – pre-order from Bandcamp.
