French labels are pushing their names above the parapet with banging releases and Antinote are one of the leaders. In this juncture we premiere D.K.’s remix of Nico Motte’s title track, ‘Life Goes On If You Are Lucky‘ released on the Paris-based label.
The aforementioned track comes from Motte’s debut album with its original incarnation being synth-led with clear ambient sounds that Motte likes to explore on telling displays. In D.K.’s hands, synths are still present but they don’t take the lead. In the remix D.K. expertly manages to bring his motif of exploring tropical ambient sounds evoking images of warmer climes to the fore while still ensuring that Motte’s original retains an essence in his rendition. As an added extra, the Michael Jackson fans among you might notice the intro’s throwback to ‘Liberian Girl‘, taken from MJ’s album Bad (1987).
