Leon Vynehall has been a busy man. Off the tails off his recent release on Running Back he is back with Christian Piers (aka A1B) under the Laszlo Dancehall moniker with a record that is appropriately timed for the summer on London label WOLF Music.
The result of a studio session together late last year, this latest record is filled with their signature collage of intricate shuffling rhythms, warm Rhodes melodies and the usual signature Vynehall samples that build into basslines that give the record a big UK stamp of approval. Our pick of the bunch, ‘Channel’, is the more subtle track off the EP and it wouldn’t be surprising if you heard this song being played in just about every outdoor setting across the country this summer. While It may not be too far of a departure from the duo’s past collaborations, there needn’t be much wading when the pair already have a unique formula that would be welcomed into any discerning DJ’s dancefloor arsenal.
