The steady shift across the dancefloor for the rising sound of disco, in the form of classics, reissues, edits or fresh productions, hasn’t gone unnoticed. The latest comes from a pairing of producers, Casino Times, who present the second round of their Edits series, of which the A-side was our real standout. With a range of lazier (in a good way!) elements, the track still keeps its finger on the pulse, through shifts and blends of quick stepping piano stabs. There are moments of blurred lines that tread between house and disco, from hands in the air balearic breakdowns and crisp claps to funky and flavoursome strings and swirling synths, but the balance is equal enough to co-exist throughout.
With an ever-growing familiarity of producers like Late Night Tuff Guy, Soundstream and Moodymann, who have proven they know their way around a disco edit, the bar is constantly being raised, but it’s clear that Casino Times have found their feet on the dancefloor.
