It’s been a landmark year for Bristolian party institution Alfresco Disco, who celebrated their tenth birthday a few months back. As a new decade gets underway, they usher in the second release of their fledgeling label with a compilation close to their hearts. Following up Maximum Joy Part 1, Part 2 is comprised of tracks created by close friends, projecting the creativity surrounding the Alfresco Disco team in such authentic form. The free-spirit of their parties certainly runs throughout.
We’re delighted to premiere ‘Awaken’, one of the two softer cuts on the release. Whisking you away from the disco delight of the compilation opener, ‘Awaken’ feels like greeting an old friend. Swinging in on a dusty hi-hat, an inviting piano progression beckons you to listen closer. Brief, bright synth riffs glimmer in the distance as the focus remains on the groove, ushered on by the keys. Reminiscent of Leon Vynehall, we can see this track easily transposed to any setting, dancefloor or duvet.
Maximum Joy Part 2 is out 23rd Nov. Pre-order from Juno.
