As a party collective with a very open mind, Half Baked have shown their eclectic taste through their recent bookings, taking on a variety of different musical styles. Their last party brought Motor City Drum Ensemble and Tama Sumo to the huge Studio 338 venue in London. Specific focus on the event production, and a certain atmosphere to always uphold, a Half Baked party is always guaranteed to be something special – with foliage, hanging bird cages, parasols, a bath full of confetti and face painting all being obligatory parts of the scene.
For this Saturday’s event, Half Baked are bringing Romanian minimal legend and one third of the a:rpia:r collective, Petre Inspirescu, to Oval Space, a venue made for watching the sun rise through their entire wall of windows. As the days are getting longer, we’re looking forward to seeing the sun peep up above the buildings opposite, soundtracked by the hypnotic minimal of Petre (aka Pedro). In terms of production, Petre’s output is frequently seen as minimal at its finest, and watching him mix is always a delight. Alongside him will be Volkan Akin, a man whose live mix for Pluie Noir Records earlier this year deservedly brought him to the forefront of the scene. He’ll be bringing his own gear for a special live set that has been getting people very excited indeed.
Warming things up will be Half Baked’s amazing resident, Robin Ordell, who has impressed audiences not just as a premium selector, but also a talented producer. Having released on Half Baked Records and Eklo, Robin is certainly up there with the best residents in the business. A live art installation provided by Boxhead will be on show as you enter the venue, with some exciting decor planned for the dancefloor. The Half Baked family’s party this Saturday is set to be just that extra bit more special!
