After a brief hiatus London mainstays Secretsundaze resurrected their self-titled imprint in July with their own ‘Stand Up’ EP, now they continue this gala relaunch with a mini album from London-based DJ and producer Eliphino. This follows his ‘Realistic Sex’ EP earlier this year for Meda Fury; four original tracks littered with breaks, acid tweaks and nods to speed garage.
As the title suggests his debut mini album for Secretsundaze, ‘Breaking Up Is Hard’, was made in the wake of a break up as a means of focusing his energy elsewhere. Across seven tracks he manoeuvres through lighter tones playing with texture and melody to evoke the different emotions that come about during these testing times. Our premiere ‘Old Lemons’ is a case in point; twinkling and melodic, it’s propped up by crisp breaks and a muted squelchy acid line.
‘Breaking Up Is Hard’ will be available tomorrow via Secretsundaze. The launch party takes place on 12th Sept at Brilliant Corners.
