An experiment in electronic music, Nantes-based collective The Balek Band are exploring the possibilities of blending instruments and machines. The project is the side project of French producer Vidock, whose previous releases have taken him to labels like Fragil Musique and Abstrack Records, the label that hosted their debut joint release with DJ Solange last year.
Their second release on London-based party and label Beauty and The Beat sees them journeying down a different path to the dark synth-wave influences on their debut. Instead opener ‘Tometsi’ is a slice of uplifting, cinematic psychedelia; reflective synths and melodic guitar licks awash with reverb and echo are dotted with intermittent bass plucks set to take you on a beautiful and immersive trip.
