Premiere: Aaron Broomfield – Boomerang (Demo Version)

Melbourne label Crown Ruler have unearthed an unreleased gem from founder and bandleader of Broomfield Corporate Jam, Aaron Broomfield. ‘Boomerang’, recorded in 1979 – a year before the remarkable ‘I’m Gonna Miss Ya’ which saw a reissue on Athens Of The North – is an ode to the ups and downs of a bold cross-country trip the band took in 1978 from Miami to Los Angeles to try and further their career.

During this time Aaron was working out which direction he should go in and cites ‘Boomerang’ as a roadmap and a reminder to himself to stay focused, keep moving forwards and overcome any fears or doubts that he encountered along the way. After recording the track at a little studio he’d set up in his sisters garage he had two test pressings made, but in 1996 a fire destroyed the studio and only one pressing survived which Aaron then decided not to release, fearing it wasn’t the right time. Backed up by a demo version, which is a slow, raw rendition of the original, ‘Boomerang’ is a “call to go out in to the world, learn and return back to base to share the experiences with the people”. Something Aaron hoped to share with his fans one day.

‘Boomerang’ will be released in March. Pre-order your copy from Crown Ruler.
