Hand picked by Hunee for his forthcoming compilation on Rush Hour, Stanislas Tohon’s ‘Owhaaou’ gets the edit treatment from Music From Memory compiler Raphaël Top-Secret. Tohon’s 1985 gem is an upbeat take on the traditional African rhythm Tchinkoume. From the “country of kings”, this spacey 80’s synth number mixes soul and Beninese traditional rhythm, a reflection of the Tchink Système genre he invented and a homage to the progressive beats and traditional sounds of his era.
