Premiere: Jeanette – L’Amour Joue Au Violon

With an ear for mind-expanding dance floor mysticism, UK duo Psychemagik have become well known over the years for their ability to seek out rare musical treasures from around the world. Released tomorrow on Eskimo Recordings, Ritual Chants is the duo’s brand new three disc compilation of dusty rare gems spanning jazz, folk, disco and world grooves.

Today we premiere a long-time STW favourite of ours that is just one of many highlights on the compilation. ‘L’Amour Joue Au Violon’ is a 1977 French seductive slow burner, coated in whispered vocals from the angelic soulstress Jeanette. A fairly known name at the time, over the years Jeanette seeped into the lofty shadows only to be rediscovered on this compilation – and we couldn’t be happier. The melody is utterly contagious, real sample material for any beat junkies out there.

Psychemagik’s Ritual Chants is out tomorrow via Eskimo Recordings.
