Edinburgh-born, Bristol-educated and London based Bert Stevens has been hitting a creative purple patch of late, with a Soundcloud full of tracks he churns out easier than Anchor spreadable.
While much of his work sits on the dubbier rungs of the house and techno ladder, ‘Airspace’ sees his first venture into more ambient territories. Bird samples and elongated chords progress into a swirling arpeggios in the second half, conjuring up that 7am state of mind. The culmination is something that falls between some of Sven Weisemann’s more laid back works, Len Faki on Ozgut Ton and the euphorically melancholic undertones of Yagya and DJ Metatron. ‘Airspace’ is, as yet, unreleased, so if there’s any labels out there who are into it, you can reach him on Soundcloud.
