Premiere: Ajukaja – Walk [Free Download]

Any compilation that has “oddities” in its title already offers one compelling reason for us to listen. Thankfully House, Disco, Boogie, and Other Oddities, a new collection on Easy Bay, justifies the initial intrigue with a host of left-centre, playful slabs of – you guessed it – house, disco and boogie. Featuring many new producers from the Bay Area – where Easy Bay are based – it opens up a part of the States we’ve not yet explored, while also adding weight with some international names you might be familiar with. Perhaps the best known is Ajukaja, an Estonian producer whose not-so-secret flurry of euphoric afro edits on Porridge Bullet sit contrastingly alongside warm yet ever-so eerie house experimentations on Jon Rust’s Levels imprint. His contribution to this collection, titled ‘Walk’, combines the saccharin Balkan oddness with a Pender Street Steppers kinda bounce, making it perfect for the warm-up, or a peak time reprieve.

What’s more, the whole of House, Disco, Boogie and Other Oddities is available for free download on 31st August from Easy Bay’s Bandcamp.
