Help Shangri-La bring a tropical paradise to London

Sufferers of soggy shoes and seasonal affective disorder (SAD) take note. The creative director behind Glastonbury’s legendary interactive city installation, Shangri-La, has announced a brand new project set to open in the capital.

Created to sooth and delight winter-frazzled Brits, Summerland is set to use Hollywood film set techniques to create a hyper-realistic tropical paradise. Jungle plant landscaping, rock walls, a jaw-dropping 40 ft. waterfall, hot-tubs, a meditation cave and a swimming lagoon will bring a sense-dazzling break from grey drudgery, where you have to check in your mobile phone, money and winter clothes at the door.

A 1.5 million lumen light projection system will blast away SAD and the sky will be video-mapped in uncanny super high-definition. As dusk falls, the sun turns to moon and Summerland becomes the ultimate location for a romantic night out in the city with friends or a partner.

Unique to immersive festivals on this scale, they are now inviting people that have enjoyed Shangri-La to buy shares through a two-month Seedrs campaign. As well as equity, Founding Club Members will be able to contribute creativity and imagination to the future direction of this tropical simulacrum a tube ride away. Minimum investment is £10, the maximum is £150,000 with Founding Club member benefits graded depending on the amount of shares bought.

Summerland has partnered with the best in the sector, from Virgin Atlantic, SeeTickets and Biletto for ticketing, THE AKA Group for media and marketing solutions (TATE, V&A) and for event creation, Harvey Goldsmith’s The Live Firm for large scale event delivery.
