After a week of sunshine and bustling beer gardens, there’s a whiff of summer in the air—the combined scent of blossom, BBQs and maybe something stronger—it is 4/20 after all. If you’re looking for something fresh to soundtrack that easy breezy atmosphere, Eahwee (pronounced err-wee) has got you covered with ‘Yah Yah’: a blissed-out, balmy tune featuring singer Ninjah Aragniz.
The closing track on the London-based producer’s upcoming EP Solitude, coming via Astral Black, it offers a burst of sunkissed, dub-tinged nostalgia perfect for those hazy summer nights. Aragniz’s husky, mellow vocals float effortlessly over a beat reminiscent of lovers rock greats like Marcia Griffiths or Janet Kay, while the visuals skew more 90s in aesthetic. The lo-fi clip co-directed by Lex Francis and Ninjah herself sees Eahwee and Aragniz performing in an empty carpark, and may or may not be Aladdin-inspired— either way there’s a magic carpet, a monkey and a great blue outfit.
Taken from the ‘Solitude’ EP out May 7th on limited edition cassette, 7″ vinyl & digi DL via Astral Black Records.
