Although N-Gynn has been knocking about as a DJ for over a decade now, becoming a regular at festivals like Glastonbury and Gottwood, it’s only in recent years that he’s began releasing music too, which has shown the wide breadth of his influences.
His production debut came in 2018 inaugurating Bobby.’s Pleasure Club imprint, for whom he released a second EP last year as well as other outings on Jonny Rock’s Hammam House and a split EP on his own Superlux imprint. This time his productions take him across the pond to San Francisco’s Warm Fiction, a label that has hosted artists like Lerosa, Reade Truth and Errel Ranson since starting life in 2017.
Our pick is opening track ‘Obscuridad’; a heads down shuffler with hip hop sensibilities. Mysterious, low slung keys, distant chopped up vocal samples and acid squelches are layered over tight percussion and 2-step drums patterns for those late night steppers.
Espetta will be released on 20th March – grab your copy.
