Premiere: Laneous – Hold My Hand

Originally hailing from Brisbane, Laneous is a self-taught musician, vocalist, guitarist and the man behind the cover art for Hiatus Kaiyote’s albums Tawk Tomahawk and Choose Your Weapon. Having made a lasting impression on a handful of musicians he’d met along his musical journey, they jumped at the chance to join him when recording his album, including Paul Bender and Simon Mavin of Hiatus Kaiyote, Hudson Whitlock of The Cactus Channel and Donny Stewart from Jazz Party.

Written in a drunken moment, ‘Hold My Hand’, the second single on his new album Monstera Deliciosa, is a homage to a past relationship, particularly in reference to someone who doesn’t treat you with love when you’re not necessarily your best self – drunk. Laneous’ soulful silky smooth vocals sit atop spooky bass line, drawing inspiration from the “father of exotica” Martin Denny, fashioning a heady hybrid of neo soul and croon punk.

Hold My Hand will be released on Soul Has No Tempo on 8th March. Pre-order on Bandcamp.
