Premiere: Z Lovecraft – Sentimental Apathy

With its first two releases, London imprint No Bad Days has fostered an approach to dance as warm and convivial as their name suggests. Although for a label with “dance” in many of its social media and email handles, it’s an unexpected, but welcome, turn to include a beatless piano composition on their next release with Z Lovecraft.

A key instigator in the fervent activities of Rhythm Section and YAM Records, it feels somewhat surprising this is the South Londener’s debut release. The five tracks on The Creator EP sit well within the context of his musical surroundings – airy, aqueous, percussive and ever so slightly dubby – with an unexpected reprieve from ‘Sentimental Apathy’. Sigur Rós style, just without the cinematic strings.

The Creator EP is out 10th February – pre-order from Bandcamp.
