This year Oxjam Music Festival reaches 10 years. The annual grassroots, volunteer-led music festival supports it’s well known parent charity Oxfam, through the celebration of music. Each October the DIY campaign is responsible for hundreds of gigs and events across cities all over the UK, organised entirely by volunteers who know and love their local music scenes.
One of this years standouts comes in the form of a 24-hour DJ marathon, which will see 24 individual acts each providing one-hour sets to help raise awareness of Oxjam and it’s mission to reduce poverty around the world. Acts running the stint include London label and promoter outfit Krankbrother, Wolf Music associate and UK house music flag flier Medlar, not forgetting funk and disco encyclopaedias Horse Meat Disco. Taking place from 1pm on the 12th October the event will also stream live from Islington’s Work Bar.
We too will be supporting the cause this Saturday, providing some of the evening’s selections for one of Oxjam’s Dalston Takeover parties. Hosted by Mixcloud, Oxjam will hope to return Farr’s School Of Dancing to it’s glory days as they also invite the dynamic Dimensions System, effortless genre juggler DJ Simbad and a very special surprise guest to complete the lineup.
