WOMAD have joined forces with CERN – the organisation that brings together the international community of scientists and engineers – to host a new stage at their 2016 festival called the Physics Pavilion.

“Bridging the gap between academic research, popular science and entertainment”, the stage will host talks from guests including Doctor Who producer Steve Moffat – who will be discussing time travel – as well as discussions with TV and radio presenter Geek Songstress and acclaimed musical comedian, Helen Arney. If that’s not enough there will also be workshops to learn about space weather, light drawing and the physics of fireworks.

This will accompany a musical programme that includes St Germain, The Invisible, Optimo, A Guy Called Gerald, George Clinton, Baaba Maal, Konono No. 1, Hot 8 Brass Band, Pat Thomas, Sons of Kemet, Iration Steppas, Federico Albanese, Auntie Flo, Kel Assouf and Afriquoi.

WOMAD takes place 28th-30th July. For info and tickets head to their website.
