Make beats on the new McDonald’s placemats

McTrax brings beatmaking to the fast food experience.

It’s unlikely to start the second coming of the bedroom producer, but the new McTrax electronic placemat from McDonald’s is sure to attract more curious customers, who previously may have looked elsewhere to fill that hunger hole. By design, the new placemat interacts with your smartphone via a McTrax app allowing just about anyone to explore 26 touch points for synths, loops and effects printed with conductive ink.

An equally exciting feature is the ability for those diners feeling particularly creative and ambitious, to record vocals straight into productions using their phone recording capabilities. Could we be witnessing the start of a talent scouting and label offshoot to the fast food conglomerate?
