Glasgow’s nightlife is restricted by a rather annoying 3am licence, but that hasn’t stopped the city establishing itself as a prime destination for partygoers worldwide. If you’ve fancied a trip up to Sub Club or La Cheetah, but never got round to making the trip, Optimo’s London residency – in partnership with Black Atlantic – is probably the closest you’ll get to capturing that fuck-off Glasgow attitude this side of Hadrian’s Wall. Now entering its sophomore year, Until The Music Stops has found a new home in the intimate Bethnal Green Working Men’s Club and, running from 9pm to 3am, it’s going to be a Glasgow style knees-up that isn’t to be missed.
Between touring the Optimo club night and the impeccable curation of their eponymous label and its various offshoots, JD Twitch and JG Wilkes have exhibited a vast knowledge of everything from post-punk to Chicago house, channeled into their genre-hopping DJ sets. Joining them on the evening will be another soul that deals in dancefloor oddities in the mercurial Trevor Jackson, taking control of the basement for the duration while Twitch and Wilkes run proceedings upstairs. If you’re looking for DJs that aren’t afraid to take risks on the dancefloor, these are your guys.
