Gottwood Announce Creative Partners For 2016

When the reviews from last year’s edition of Gottwood started flooding in, the deserved praise for their emphasis on visual arts and installations was highlighted as a cornerstone of the festival. Just last week, Thump slated British run festivals for all having the same lineup, however Gottwood have announced their creative partners program to prove they are once again breaking the mould and standing out in an oversaturated market.

For 2016 they have announced they are overseeing the return of the Lazerdome, an experience which will be fresh in the memory of anyone who went last year. London collective Behind This Wall will be hosting a woodland cinema and restaurant, whilst Hamburg based artist Katja Ruge will be bringing her first art gallery to the festival, showcasing her larger than life imaginings of classic synths. As if last year’s stages weren’t impressive enough, they have commissioned Rupert Newman and Be Like Other People to build bespoke pieces especially for the festival as well as bringing audiovisual art agency Derelicht on board, alongside a number of the UK’s best street artists, including Lilly, Mickey Brain and I Am Space Dog.

This is all without mentioning our own involvement, which we’re extremely excited for. We’ll be teaming up with Mancunian don Ruf Dug to build a garage based on Wayne’s World, which will see house parties, arcade games, production workshops and interviews, before doubling up as a house party when the sun fall. We can’t wait!
