Audio-visual artist Haroon Mirza  kicks off first in a series of “locked groove” releases, recording sounds from a range of textiles.

Home to its founder’s deadly 2013 dancefloor stimulant ‘Hackney Parrot’, Tessela’s Poly Kicks imprint braces itself for their third release, serving also as the first in a series of ‘locked groove’ records composed by invited guests.

Its opener is addressed by internationally acclaimed artist Haroon Mirza. Well known for his sculptural works which generate audio compositions, Mirza has fervidly explored the generation and perception of sound –  “as long as you’re organising acoustic material, it’s just the perception and the context that defines it as music or noise or sound or just a nuisance” – Mirza.

50 Locked Grooves is a collection of loops compiled onto two separate 12”s; the result of a huge collection of Mirza’s custom made 12″s, constructed from glass, cardboard, sellotape and much more. The loops have been processed onto two identical records designed to be played together.

Poly003 is released 25th January, have a little look inside making process in the video below.
