Actress has always been an unpredictable element within UK techno, moving from the dancefloor to the bedroom with aplomb through releases on his own imprint Werkdiscs, Honest Jon’s and Nonplus. Unifying factors in this illustrious, ten plus years career has been quality control and a singular vision of the highest order.

Suffice it to say we’re excited about his one-off show with the London Contemporary Orchestra at the Barbican on 10th February, where he’ll premiere brand new material alongside expanded arrangements of his brooding electronica. The London based producer has previously been on record to say he wants to make “classical stuff for a modern generation”, and in this new collaboration, commissioned and curated by Boiler Room, the London Contemporary Orchestra will be on hand to help realise Cunningham’s ambitions. Using them as a new instrument, and matching his electronic loops with precise manipulation of their acoustic instruments, they’ll aim to form a heightened kind of chamber music that’s powerfully immersive and intricately detailed.

The performance will be broadcast live by both Boiler Room and NTS. Tickets can be found on the Barbican website starting from £17.50.
