
German engineer Ricardo Kocadag has developed the world’s first stone record and pertinently cut the 6mm thick disk with “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction” by the Rolling Stones.
The record was produced at the Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und -prüfung (BAM) to demonstrate the remarkable data recording capabilities of it’s fashioned material and Kocadag shows that ultra-high performance concrete (UHPC) – the same matter used in the construction of buildings and bridges – can be manipulated down to the “microstructural level” enabling “data to be saved and replayed” from it.
