The Garden Festival – the first of its kind in Croatia – celebrated its tenth birthday this year while announcing they were closing their doors for good, or as they put it, ‘going out with a bang’. They certainly achieved that, with a lineup that saw Ben UFO and Craig Richards alongside live sets from Paranoid London and Crazy P. The jewel in the crown was an extended 10 hour set from the man of the moment – DJ Harvey – on the last night. Combined with the location and perfect weather, they had themselves quite a following of loyal supporters.
But no sooner had the dust settled on their amazing final blowout that Team Love announced their continued involvement in a new venture, to be called Love International. Held in the same place, but with some changes, the new festival is to be run by Dave Harvey and Tom Paine who curate Love Saves The Day in Bristol and the Wow Stage at Glastonbury. We’ve been promised that the intimate feel of the previous festival will remain intact – meaning also that there will be no VIP areas to speak of. We, for one, are extremely excited to see the new concept rise out of the ashes that The Garden Festival left after its big bang, and we’ll no doubt be on the Adriatic coast come summer 2016.
