Building on what was a roof-raising night at Oval Space last month with Robert Hood and Mathew Jonson, the two Bicep gents are turning their hand to curating once again, but this time for a series of 13 parties at XOYO. Coining it their ‘13 Week Workout‘, the pair have invited some of the industry’s best to share the decks with them. They of course will be playing every week, which is an event in itself, but below we’ve outlined some of the members of the lineup that are getting us excited for what are sure to be some of our best nights out in London this summer.
The first in the series sees the blog-writing gym enthusiasts invite Beats In Space founder Tim Sweeney to host Room 2 at XOYO alongside Park Ranger on American Independence Day (4th July). It seems that each night has been put together with a slightly different flavour, showcasing the many facets of their musical taste. For instance, a special live set from Omar Souleyman that we have been waiting to see for some time now, will see Tief take over the second room with the Sisterhood duo and Hessletime (1st August). Nick Höppner and the Zenker Brothers join Bicep at the controls on the 8th August, while Young Marco and Alex Bradley are at the helm in room 2.
For the more disco-leaning amongst you, there’ll be a few nights that particularly take your fancy. Firstly we have Bristol-via-Cardiff’s disco house outfit, Studio 89, taking over room 2 with Marcel Vogel on the 18th July. Most exciting for us is the idea of an evening spent with Bicep, Greg Wilson and Late Nite Tuff Guy, and not long afterwards, The Black Madonna alongside Horse Meat Disco with Virginia in the second room.
One third of the Belleville Three, Derrick May will be bringing his very unique sense of rhythm for a night on the 25th July, while also very excitingly, Andrew Weatherall will be headlining our pick of the bunch, alongside Mr. Ties and a special 3-hour set from Berghain affiliate nd_baumecker. With that sitting towards the tail end of summer, we have buckets of time to prepare ourselves, but tickets are sure to not last long.
