Annie Eve – Annie Eve EP

In late 2011, we introduced you to a young, London singer-songwriter called Annie Eve. We said back then she was worth keeping an eye on, and it is with great humility that we can confirm that we’d been proved right! Since graduating from Goldsmith’s (whose musical alumni include Damon Albarn, Rob da Bank and James Blake), Annie has not rested on her laurels. Her touring schedule has been jammed packed, becoming a regular at Communion live nights, supporting Daughter and Fionn Regan, as well as a regular slot on Matt Corby’s recent UK tour. She’s also just recorded a live session with XFM’s late-night, new music professor John Kennedy and got signed to Young & Lost Club, who release her self-titled, debut EP. It is full of the same kind of heart-on-your sleeve singing that has seen Daughter capture listener’s ears; a sound simultaneously introverted, powerful and emotive. On our favourite, Bodyweight, Annie’s tormented lyrics are presented in an echoing refrain, akin to some of Peter Broderick’s best work. A  beautifully, bewitching song and accompanied well, on the release, by Elvis and Hunters.

You can buy Annie Eve EP from iTunes now and unsurprisingly, Annie has a very busy festival season. Catch her at Lounge on the FarmWilderness, Secret Garden Party, Balladrum and Green Man, and also a headline Communion date at St Pancras Old Church. To keep up to date with future live dates, follow her on Facebook and Twitter.
