Steeped in early 70’s folk nostalgia, young singer/songwriter Jessica Pratt is yet another revival artist awakening a movement that got buried in the dirt more than three decades ago. Harking back to the sounds of Joni Mitchell and Vashti Bunyan, Jessica combines exquisite finger-picking and a crystal voice doused in mellow solitude. Her self-titled debut came out last month on Birth Records, a label run by fellow artist Tim Presley (frontman of 60’s revivalist surf-pop band White Fence). The album shimmers with an intimate melancholy and a faint hiss of white noise throughout, adding even more to the 60’s/70’s style.
