There seems to be a bit of a freaky Friday situation happening in radio at the moment. Only weeks ago, Myleene klass was shouting out the massives and dropping grime riddims, and now something has taken a hold of legendary snowman walker Aled Jones. As part of the Classic FM charity takeover on Captial XTRA takeover, he took listeners on a 30 minute trip through the history of Jungle and DnB.
Then again, is this really that strange? We’ve seen countless dance music artists take a trip into the classical world, including Benji B’s deviation string quartet, Goldie’s orchestra and even the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra playing ‘Functions On The Low’. Proving there’s two sides to every coin, Aled Jones may just be the tip of the iceberg in an underground classical movement, so think again next time your dial finds Radio 3. Oh, and the shout outs are absolutely priceless.
