Four Tet’s new track Ocarus was aired by Gilles Peterson on Saturday and today sees an official release from the man. It turns out Ocarus is the B-Side for Jupiters, which will be the 15th release on Hebden’s Text label…
It’s almost a year since Amy Winehouse’s passing, so it got us thinking…
Robert Luis has been co-running Brighton’s brilliant Tru Thoughts label for over ten years. He might have a good eye for talent, but judging by this re-edit of a Wiley track we came across recently, he’s also a pretty mean producer, as Nirobi.
As a writer, Jason ‘Poo Bear’ Boyd has won four Grammys (including work with Jill Scott, Usher) and has also produced, written or featured on tracks with Lupe Fiasco, DJ Khaled, Kelis, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony and heaps more. Turns out this guy can sing as well.
Anushka exploded onto our radar last week when her track Yes Guess was played on Gilles Peterson’s 6 Music show. Despite Peterson’s claims of a summer anthem in the making, he kept quiet on any extra details so we did some digging.
East Anglian rapper Booda French (a.k.a. Don’t Flop battle rapper Truth) has recently released this video to accompany the audio for his track ’61 Grace’, off his upcoming E.P. ‘Ventolin’. Set on his home turf of Ipswich, the video follows Mr French round as he raps (and sings) about his rainy hometown. The beat is spilling over with pure soul, courtesy of producer J57 (part of The Brown Bag Allstars collective), whilst visuals come from the Don’t Flop/Be Established camp. Big up this new fresh talent.
Luke Swann reports back on Tricky’s homecoming show at Bristol’s O2 Academy where he performed his critically-acclaimed debut album, Maxinquaye, in full plus some other favourites.
Eric Lau has worked with a range of range of respected and up-and-coming names in Hip-Hop, RnB and Electronic (Guilty Simpson, Fatima, Floating Points, Szjerdene), making him one of the go-to producers at the minute. This one is a pretty special release made for Record Store Day last Saturday…
