Since moving from his home in Vlissingen to Rotterdam at the tender age of 19, FFF, also known as Tommy de Roos, has established himself as a prominent force in the world of breakcore. Cutting his teeth DJing in local youth centres, he went on to play across Europe, showcasing and simultaneously honing his speed and his ferocity, before eventually going on to host the now legendary Breakcore a go-go event alongside Bong-Ra.
Now FFF journeys across the Pacific to Australia for a new record on Cheeky Music Group sub-label Low Battery, which is inspired by the city of his musical upbringing, Rotterdam, the culture from countries across the globe and a compulsive obsession over classic TV, film and books. Influenced by rave, jungle and digital hardcore, the EP reflects the sporadic collage, post-modern, raised-on-TV-culture era that spawned FFF’s glistening career.
Our pick is the aptly titled ‘Desperately Seeking Summer’: a glistening, cinematic and technical exemplar of jungle. Slick fills, summery vocal samples and digitally scattershot breaks make this a giant leap toward the good times ahead.
Full of Light will be released on 6th May via Low Battery.
