Belly Dance Services are hoping to inject a little bit of sunshine into these rainy days with their next release: a sun-soaked three-tracker from Lille-based producer Kubebe. Having caught the ear of label bosses Hanzo & Yaman through his releases for Thomass Jackson and Iñigo Vontier’s Calypso Records and fellow Mexican imprint Fauna Rêve, Kubebe’s blend of fresh melodies and slow, woozy rhythms are given a breezy breath of fresh air on Candiru.
Opening with the bright and playful tones of the title track, the EP continues its journey on to sunnier climes with the smooth synths and soft guitar licks of ‘Coral Noon’ before rounding off the trip with our pick, ‘Sainte Rita’; a haze of swirling synths and gentle instrumentation that’s reminiscent of early 80s new age and ambient.
Candiru will be released on 25th May via Belly Dance Services.
