Norwich-based party and label Cosmic Pint Glass are keeping it in the family for their next release, welcoming their close label mate Duke Slammer for his first outing on the imprint under his own name, Luke Sanger.
Having helped the party take their first leap into the label world back in 2015, Sanger has since released several EPs with the Cosmic Pint Glass crew, that sit among his extensive discography. His recent sonic efforts, including this new EP in question, see him stripping back his production and allowing the instruments to do the talking.
Across the three originals on Mountain Dance, which were written in the foothills of the Pyrenees, Sanger brings space, freedom and vibrancy to create sparse atmospheric techno tinged with euphoria. On the remix, Cosmic Pint Glass have enlisted the skills of Jamie Paton and Møzaika, the latter of whom contributed a track to a V/A EP when the label were starting out. His reinterpretation takes Sanger’s original into a swirl of free-form drum patterns, that ebb and flow over splashes of percussion and tropical-tinged melodies.
Mountain Dance is out on 28 August via Cosmic Pint Glass.
