Spotify, Help Musicians UK and PRS for Music have all launched initiatives to support artists left financially vulnerable due to the impact of COVID-19.
Over the last two weeks, the music and creative industry has taken a huge hit due to enforced lockdowns across the world, with artists, labels, promoters, magazines and many more left not knowing where their next pay check is going to come from.
To help support those effected, several initiatives have been set up my music platforms and charities. PRS for Music have established an emergency relief fund with grants of up to £1,000 each, dependent on the individual’s need. The fund will be open to applications from 9am on Thursday 26 March 2020.
Help Musicians UK are offering support by giving away one-off grants of £500 to most musicians who apply – once approved, funds are sent within a week to 10 days.
Elsewhere, Spotify are working to launch a feature that will allow artists to fundraise directly from fans during this challenging time.
Give us a shout if you’ve heard of any other initiatives that have been launched to support artists during this time.
