“Fingers crossed” was Daisy Moon‘s response last year when we quizzed her whether she had plans to release music in the future. Now, here we are a year and a half down the line and her debut EP Geometry of Curves is ready to drop on Bristol mainstay Idle Hands.
As a DJ and promoter Daisy plays an integral part of the city’s music scene. She is co-founder of Mix Nights – alongside fellow DJs Em Williams and Danielle – where she teaches young women to DJ, while with former flatmates Shanti Celeste and Gramcy she runs the club night Housework, on top of all that she holds down a job at Qu Junktions.
Now turning her attention to production, Geometry of Curves feels more like the work of a producer who’s been at it for a while rather than an inaugural effort. Our pick ‘Anemone’ opens with distant chatter and trickling water which gives way to bewitching vocals that float and echo effortlessly over deep sweeping subs, stuttering drums and crisp percussion. A stunning debut release; we can’t wait to hear what she has in store next…
