When you think of AOR, Chicago DJ and producer Ron Trent doesn’t immediately spring to mind. The Prescription Records‘ head breaks new ground with his forthcoming release Warm, signalling a different direction for his works to come.
Landing on Prescription’s sub label Future Vision, which has been home to releases from Trinidadian Deep, Tkumah Sadeek and Trent’s Blak Punk Soundsystem alias, the EP draws influences from Balearic, soft rock and new age, yet that signature Ron Trent feel comes through in the tight percussion and chord progressions.
The bright tones of ‘On A Journey’ blend Komische guitar and glowing keys with sweeping drum work, proving that whatever Trent puts his hand to always makes for very special results.
