A family of London-based souls, Touching Bass is a growing community of selectors, creatives and thinkers “focused on forwarding the legacy of black-oriented music through dance and discussion.” From what first started in 2014 as a night hosted by TB, the collective has grown from strength to strength and now collaborate with NTS Radio to release their first mixtape, Afro Chronicles 001 – twelve tracks of original music from their extended community.
Deep beats, soul and jazz are filtered throughout music from the likes of Shungu, Melo Zed and Wu Lu with an additional offering of a limited copy poster designed by the talented Mason London for the first two hundred customers. The poster is a collection of “handcrafted flyers by our longtime designer and friend, Mason London. Each one has been a new episode in a slowly unravelling tale about inter-dimensional love, music, afrofuturism and our beloved LDN concrete jungle.”
Founded by DJ and writer Andwot with fellow selectors including Alex Rita, Born Cheating, Sammseed, Shy One Beats and Wu-Lu; Touching Bass have expanded their operation as a South London dance, to residencies both on NTS and at Brilliant Corners which host’s their explorative music discussion series, Speaking In Sound.
