Day 19 of our charity Advent Calendar in aid of Help Musicians.
Our next offering will have you feeling particularly festive, as though you’re dancing in the warm folds of a tropical sunset. Soft summery chords are the first thing to lure us into Riccio’s rejig of a 70’s ballad by American group 5th Dimension. Marilyn McCoo’s heartrending vocals are mouse-like as the original is sped up giving it a classical charm; that same charm which typifies Christmas with its traditions and revived pop hits. Despite drastic shift in tempo, Riccio’s tweaks are deft. Choice moments of lulls bless the song’s heartfelt peaks with more soul while a punchy drum workout and prominent bass plucks keep the toes a tapping and the shoulders a shrugging. Here Riccio gives a bit more info about the track:
“This stretched sample has been in my hard disc for more than 10 years. I’ve always delayed the moment to complete it beccause is very melanchonic and I never felt the need to put it out. Only some months ago I started to collect sounds to continue the production and when you told me about the Advent Calendar I completed it. I use music to follow my mood and sometime I go in the opposite direction…in this case I followed!”
