Isolée – Floripa

DJ Koze and Marcus Fink continue a run of flawless releases on their Pampa imprint with Isolée’s Floripa EP.

The title track is both understated and stately and like many of Pampa’s previous releases is a certified earworm. Floripa has been making regular appearances in Koze’s sets of late (including his superlative set at Farr Festival) and with a synth line that’s as memorable as it is ethereal, it’s not hard to see why the track has received so much pre-release attention. B-side ‘Favouride’ is a more eerie, but no less catchy affair. Woody percussion and vocals give the track a propulsive, vaguely African feel.

Isolée’s now fabled remix of Recloose’s ‘Cardiology’ that was featured on MCDE’s DJ Kicks compilation might be his most successful release thus far in his career. But, while ‘Cardiology’ was a funk driven piece with a unnerving edge, Floripa is an EP of driving, intelligent and catchy techno that shows that Isolée’s talent is not just limited to one genre.

Isolée – Floripa EP is out now on Pampa. Available from Juno and most other stores.
