Scrolling back through Pinch’s discography, one thing is evidently clear: the man has an outstanding knack for collaborations. From the dread pressure of the early Deleted Scenes records, through to the dark rush of his recent work with Mumdance, many of Rob Ellis’ best moments – ‘Memory Loss’, ‘Boracay Drift’, ‘Turbo Mitzi’, ‘2012’ – have resulted from the inspired procurement of a partner in crime.
His latest partnership is with On-U Sound boss and revered dub trailblazer, Adrian Sherwood. The pair met at a Tectonic Records takeover at Fabric in 2011, where Sherwood instantly took to the dark, bass-heavy sounds that Pinch was pushing. The pair met again in Sherwood’s studio, where they produced two standout 12″s, ‘Bring Me Weed‘ and ‘Music Killer‘.
Three years on, the pair are set to release their fantastic debut album, Late Night Endless. To mark the record’s release, Simple Things have invited them to play live at the Marble Factory in Bristol, as well as playing individually, with Sherwood playing a classic On-U Sound set, and Pinch taking us back with a classic ’04-’06 set. They will be joined by Bristol’s on-point tastemaker and legendary Massive Attack member, Daddy G.
