E.R. – Feluha

E.R. (Ethiopian Records) aka Endeguena Mulu firmly plants his North African roots within a realm of technology and the product is a thing of mysticism and beauty. Almost mesmeric are the effects of industrial sounds, seamlessly merged with samples of traditional instruments and vocals. On ‘Feluha’, the traditional Ethiopian mode (flute) comes to the fore in a track bursting with influences from his hometown Addis Ababa. The ingenious repetition in the melodic elements form a “call and response” structure, often found in music from the African continent, providing a focal point to guide you through a multitude of components each to be appreciated in their own way.

Feluha is taken from the Qen Sew ቅን ሰዉ EP, out now on the Washington D.C. label 1432 R, grab it here.
